One step ahead with personnel safety

U-Tech Gesellschaft für Maschinensicherheit mbH was founded in 2002 by Dipl. Ing. Kurt Utler in Vallendar near Koblenz.

Mr Utler has gained international management experience at director level over many years at Thales, Alcatel and in the Hitachi group. He has extensive technical knowledge in electrical engineering and telecommunications.

U-Tech GmbH works in association with Selectronic Funk- und Sicherheitstechnik GmbH, which has been active in development and production in the field of high-frequency engineering, mobile communications and safety engineering since 1976.

With the launch of the GSG202 personnel safety system for baling presses in the recycling industry, U-Tech has succeeded in capturing this market niche entirely for itself and in opening up transponder technology (RFID) for occupational safety. Such systems can now be found in renowned recycling companies such as Veolia, SITA, and all press manufacturers throughout Europe and also in places in North America.

The basic system GSG202 was certified to DIN EN 60947-5-3 and EN954-1 in accordance with the European standard by the Berufsgenossenschaftliches Institut für Arbeitssicherheit (German Institute for Occupational Safety) in 2003. It is thus the only certified safety system in the world in this sector with more than five years of experience in practice.

U-Tech is currently pursuing further projects involving the development of the system for other industries which have corresponding hazard areas for staff. In particular, the French Institut National de Recherche et de Sécurité – INRS- (French Research Institute for Occupational Safety) has become involved with appropriate development contracts, in particular those concerning the protection of personnel against collision with vehicles in the industrial sector.

With sales partners in France, England, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland and the USA and new products, U-Tech is set for expansion into new sectors and new countries in 2009, such as in the field of operational safety in the mines of Australia, and is thus flying in the face of the worldwide economic crisis.
