“Vision Zero is the vision of a world without accidents at work and work-related illnesses. The highest priority is the prevention of fatal and serious occupational accidents and diseases. The aim of Zero Vision is a comprehensive culture of prevention,” according to German trade associations.
International occupational safety and health experts, politicians and scientists regularly discuss ways to ensure the safety and wellbeing of employees. More and more companies are joining Vision Zero worldwide (http://visionzero.global/). In Germany, the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) registered only 430 fatal accidents at work. China, the world’s second-largest economy, in contrast had a total of 38,000 fatal accidents in 2017.
“A world without fatal accidents at work – Vision Zero – is feasible and not an unrealistic idea,” says Dr. Joachim Breuer, CEO of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV).
